Node 7: Dijon Field - Phenovia

Dijon Field

Phenovia (Dijon) represents continental climates of eastern France. Plants often experience variable temperatures during autumn, below-zero temperatures for several days in winter (regularly reaching -20°C) dry springs, and hot and stormy summers. The agricultural area is specialised in both spring and winter crops. The situation is well adapted to study abiotic factors like drought or nitrogen stress effects as well as different biotic factors including insects. Maps of soil texture, soil structure and electric conductivity were carried out in the whole installation. A sensor network characterizes micrometeorological conditions and soil water content every hour.

Imaging is performed via UAVs, involves multiple images in the visible and near infrared spectra for measurements such as canopy height and indices such as NDVI. It also involves imaging of transpiration via thermal imaging.  Data are stored in the PHIS information system.

The phenotyping capacity is up to 2,000 micro-plots on fields with contrasting N and water plant status. Some fields are dedicated to analyse plant behaviour in response to Aphanomyces or other pests. Protocols of reinforced infection and inoculum production are developed for a limited range of pathogens.
